So after a very successful video cricket bat face off. over 250 views in the first 12 hours its time to reveal the winners and losers of the cricket bat face off. Please remember i have tried to be as unbiased as possible and am gauging the comments of 3 other people in this test as well. From comments and conversations had with the people who helped me do the cricket bat review and also from watching the video.

The 5 cricket bats that were involved in the cricket bat face off are:

Vindico Genghis players+ cricket bat

USSZ Zafar Asim cricket bat

Crictech Mellet signature cricket bat

Lekka RDX Envy cricket bat

Lekka TPX big hitter cricket bat

So lets start with the bats.

The Vindico Genghis players + cricket bats

Specifications

Origin: India
Wood: Grade 1 English willow
Sizes Available: SH
Weight Guide: 2lb 8oz-3lb+
Sample Weight: 2lb 10
Handle: round
Edge (at widest): 33mm
Finish: Natural
Toe Protection: Yes

My opinion

I like the bat, its traditional shaping ( like the GM flare ) and the ping and performance was superb. As you saw from my video review its probably the best Pinging bat ive tested in a long time. I like the fact that Vindico is a very small company, two friends living in america sourcing their bats from a big bat maker in india and making it their own. Their original sticker designs and concept are fresh and inspiring. A solid bat that will score many runs for season to come.

We Like

– The simple, functional design
– The edges. Big but not too big, and the logo detail is a nice touch
– The forgiving middle

We Dislike

– Overall quality of the willow aesthetics let the bat down a little but the ping and performance grading makes up for it.

My opinion

Looks to be a good cricket bat. The performance has turned out to be excellent and people who use these bats are very impressed. The finish and stickering leaves a bit to be desired. I would say the finish on these bats is similar to that of an SS or CA cricket bat. Its acceptable but nothing special. This is overall a good performing bat and i like it.

We Like

– Very simple design, a  lot like the Ihsan inferno 950, nothing flashy but effective

We Dislike

– got two pressure dings on the toe, seems not to be pressed properly or may need to spend more time than usual knocking the bat in.

The stickers are also lame.

My opinion

I love the bat, its custom designed for me and i feel like a kid again. ive seen thousands of bats come my way the last two years and only once or twice have i had the feeling about a bat like this. Its beautiful. Its like the Ferrari ive always wanted.

We Like

– The simple stickers that allow you to see all of the wood.
– The edges. Big but not too big, and the logo detail is a nice touch
– huge double middle allowing me to have meat on the front foot shots as well as on the back foot. Its custom designed just for me and you feel great confidence when stepping into your shots.

We Dislike

– The willow was a little dry but that adds to the superb pickup, so maybe im just being picky here.

My opinion

A very impressive looking bat. The fact that its made by Tim Keeley speaks volumes about the build quality. A very impressive 17 close grains help you to be impresed with the bat. Overall now after using it in the nets it would be sad to have to sell this bat on to someone else.

We Like

– Simple traditional design but also with a slight concave of the spine to help with the superb balance

We Dislike

– The polycoat, i like my bats to have a natural finish to them

Not a lot of wow factor with this bat

We Like

– the edges are huge and it has meat aplenty.
– Somehow the pickup is extremely light and well balanced

We Dislike

So i guess by now you are pretty anxious to find out how these bats did in the cricket bat face off right?

if you haven’t seen the face off, i will post a link at the bottom of this blog.

Out of the five bats i have rated them along with the help of my fellow bat testers. thanks to them for their help. The scoring categories are :

First impression ( what do you feel as you take it out the box )

Feel / balance / pickup ( no explanation necessary )

Performance ( does the ball fly off the bat )

Most indestructible ( came out the least scathed or damaged )

Best Ping ( how does it feel & sound coming off the bat when you middle it )

For each appearance in a category the bat will get one point. The bat that scores in the top three of each category the most will be the winner and the coveted title of our favorite bat.

Please remember, these bats are all quality bats, and even though they may not score it doesn’t mean its not a good bat. I was impressed with every single one of these bats and would gladly use any one of them in a match.

The bats are listed in no particular order and listed as the top 3 and not 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

First impression top 3 : Lekka TPX / Crictech / Vindico

Feel / balance / pickup top 3 : Crictech / Lekka TPX / Lekka RDX

Performance : Lekka TPX / Crictech / USSZ

Most indestructible bats : Lekka RDX / Lekka TPX / Vindico

Best Ping : USSZ / Vindico / Crictech

So the scores are :

Lekka RDX Envy : 2

USSZ custom : 2

Vindico : 3

Crictech : 4

Lekka TPX big hitter : 4

So yes, its a tie for first place. Both the crictech bat and the Lekka TPX big hitter are superb cricket bats and anyone would be happy to buy them. Both have what all bats need. Great balance and pickup & superb performance. Ultimately those two factors to me are what matter with a cricket bat.

Congratulations to both Companies and i wish all of them great success in the future.

In january i am trying to put together another face off with the worlds bets 20/20 cricket bats.

Here is the video of the face-off if you haven’t seen it yet.
