SG Cricket Bats

When you think of great Indian cricketers of the past you immediately think of Sunil Gavaskar and then you think of his cricket bat of choice, the Indian made English Willow SG Cricket Bat.

For more than 80 years SG has been churning out some of the best cricket bats in the cricket equipment market.

Where to buy SG Cricket Bats in the USA?

Many people love the quality and attention to detail that SG Cricket bats have but struggle to find a reputable supplier in the USA. You will therefore be very glad to know that SG are now going to be stocked by Cricket Store Online. Cricket Store Online has earned a reputation as America’s premier cricket store with the best and latest cricket gear and cricket equipment. Cricket Store Online is now proud to offer SG to USA cricketers.

Why buy and SG Cricket Bat?

Having dealt with many English Willow cricket bats, like GM cricket bats and Gray Nicolls cricket bats, it seems to be that SG is a cricket bat that really has strength when it comes to a cricket bat for sub-continent conditions. Sub-continent conditions are lower bouncing pitches and a lot of spin and slower building. Many of the pitches in the USA replicate these conditions and the lower sweet spot on many of these SG cricket bats definitely is a huge benefit. Of course SG are great for even the fastest paced bowling too.

Who uses and used SG Cricket Bats?

SG has been used by the greats of Indian cricket. This includes the little master himself Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and as mentioned Sunil Gavaskar. Modern players such as Suresh Raina and West Indian Marlon Samuels also have used or do use SG cricket bats.

GM Cricket Mogul 4.5 original cricket bat
There are many North American cricketers who are looking for the right bat for conditions on many of the North American wickets and that is what makes the GM Mogul F4.5 Original Cricket Bat such a winner.
First of all, it is a GM. GM cricket speaks for itself in terms of quality cricket equipment. It is possible that some leagues around North America are using inferior cricket balls. Bad cricket balls damage good cricket bats. It is a fact. Aside from requesting that a better ball be used. (Check out the cricket ball selection at cricketstoreonline.com) you sometimes simply have to face up and for that you need a quality and durable cricket bat that will still serve you well. This is what makes GM a step above, there is so much effort spent by GM using CAD and CAM technologies to create a truly superior quality cricket bat.

The Powerarc bow is what will serve North American cricketers so well. American and Canadian pitches are at time slightly lower than pitches in the Southern Hemisphere but not as low as pitches on the sub-continent. That is what makes the GM cricket Mogul Original such a winner, it is well priced and the extended sweet spot with a perfectly mid point hitting zone is sure to make it a winner for American cricketers on American wickets.
There is also the price factor. The Original series of cricket bats are made of premier English Willow. These bats are known to be cheaper than the GM Cricket L.E series of cricket bats and priced as they are, they will make a great cricket bat for matches for players playing in the leagues around North America. Join players like Quinton De Kock and Sarah Taylor who enjoy the versatility of the GM Mogul cricket bat.
North American cricketers need a versatile cricket bat that is highly durable and that is what the GM Mogul F4.5 is.

Hammer Black Edition Cricket Bat 2015

Cricket bat makers have definitely gone the extra mile when it comes to their cricket bat ranges for 2015. Kookaburra has brought on some fantastic new ranges including bolstering their existing Kahuna and the ever popular Bubble comeback cricket bat. GM has also produced some superlative ranges for 2015, including the Mogul, Sigma and of course ever popular brands like the Icon and the Octane.

Small bespoke handcraft bat makers are also pulling out the stops to produce cricket bats that will match and possibly even surpass the bats produced by the larger brands of bat makers. One of the best bats for the 2015 season has to be the Hammer Black Edition Cricket Bat.

This bat does not last long on the shelves and the makers at Hammer cricket have kept the exclusivity of this cricket bat by only producing 25 of them.

The limit on the amount produced is also due to the caliber of the willow. The Hammer Black Edition Cricket Bat 2015 is produced from willow that is usually only reserved for the best professional players. The semi-oval handle is made from premium 12 piece cane. This quality handle is a substantial element of the almost zero vibration from the bat.

It has a full face profile and the camber on the bat is 2mm. This camber along with the profile allows the bat to have huge edges. The bat is available in SH and LH.

Perhaps the greatest element of this cricket bat is the weight distribution. The bat weighs between 2.9 and 2.12 but the absolutely brilliant balance of the cricket bat makes it feel a lot lighter. This gives the batsman huge amounts of concentrated power without compromising on the batsman’s ability to wield the willow.

Such is the exclusivity of this bat is that it comes with a high quality padded bat cover to help you protect one of the best cricket bats your money can buy.

But more than what you should be doing with your cricket bat, GM has put together a list of specific things that you should not be doing with your cricket bat.

Here is a brief analysis of some of these cricket bat don’ts:

Don’t expose your bat to extreme temperatures:

Your bat is for all intents and purposes like any other wood, extreme cold and extreme heat will damage the composition of your cricket bat willow hence damaging your bat.

Don’t Over-Oil:

This may come as a shock but the experts at GM suggest that over-oiling your cricket bat is far worse than underoiling your cricket bat. Too much oil adds unnecessary weight to the bat, it spoils the driving power of your cricket bat and may even rot your cricket bat from the inside out.

Don’t Stand Your Bat in Oil:

Contrary to old thinking, the oil well of your bat is not for you to stand your bat in oil. You will swell the toe of your bat and cause long term damage to the cricket bat.

Don’t Use Cheap Balls:

Using cheap cricket balls on a great cricket bat can cause long term damage to not only the surface of your cricket bat, but to the inside willow as well.

Don’t play with a damaged bat:

If you feel your bat is damaged, send it in to experts like cricketstoreonline.com, do not use your bat if you think it is damaged, if you do, you can turn a fixable bat into a cricket bat that is broken for good.

I dont love this bat as much i do the epic PE, but that doesn’t take away from the fact its an awesome bat. all the characteristics as the epic. Expensive, exclusive, brilliant. My opinion

I like this bat and the shape. its has a nice low elongated middle that extends up the blade and its very well balanced. The balance is a little light as it comes in 2.10 with a pickup index of 2 but it carries it very will and i could see myself playing with this bat as its very close to one of the bats i currently use myself. see Hammer cricket bats.take the price out of the equation and change the score to 35, you will have a bat that scores 33/35. thats not to bad.

We Like

– I love the balance and pickup of this bat even though its lighter than i usually use. Ping is awesome obviously as are all of the player edition cricket bats.

My opinion

This bat and the shane watson are the only two bats in the range that are anything like the actual GM range of bats. eg the watson shape is very similar to the actual flare and this Ross taylor bat is similar to the Icon shape but the G.smith and the Trott bats are nothing like the bats they are endorsing shape and profile wise. Overall however its still an awesome bat with a large middle and will dwarf any ground out there.take the price out of the equation and change the score to 35, you will have a bat that scores 33/35. thats not to bad.

We Like

– Very good weight and balance with the pickup index being a perfect 3. combining control and power. Any batsman will love this bat in their hands.

pickup index ( 3 )

We Dislike

– im starting to not love the sharp icon spine. if 3/4 GM pros don’t have the sharp spine with con-caved rear profile, is that a sign that there is something to the design??
